GCPWA is proud to partner with the Horry County Department of Social Services to open a new Reading Room during Women's History Month to help eradicate illiteracy and promote reading in an area of South Carolina where 12% of the population lack basic prose literacy skills. "A number of the children that we serve require considerable improvement on their reading skills," says Wanda Squire, former Horry County DSS Director, who proposed the idea for GCPWA to help by donating books to children under the care of DSS.
